Flowers go with everything. This appears to be Clare Celeste Börsch‘s motto when it comes to her collages, and you’d be hard-pressed to disagree. Börsch delightfully incorporates both the ordinary (birds, branches, and butterflies) and the unusual (water-skiers, hot-tubbers, stray hands) in her offbeat compilations. Born in Thailand, Börsch has lived in 5 different countries before finally settling in her current home in Berlin, Germany. In her own words, she “often does not have a definitive answer to the question “Where do you come from?” and her work grapples with issues of memory and self-narrative.” Perhaps as a result, Börsch experiments with scale, arrangement and colour in her composition to convey the sense of something slightly off-balance, to enchanting effects.
