“Kiss my blood” by Giulia Bersani is a creative advertising work commissioned by B Type Jewels, an Italian jewellery line that brandishes the blood type of the wearer, and simulates the importance of making our blood types known.
Known for her intimate style of photography, Giulia Bersani has an eye for capturing intimacy and emotion in each of her pictures, giving you the ability to gaze into the complex relationships of the people she photographs. As the name suggests, the pictures portray people of all ages, gender, and speciesnotably a woman and her catkissing each other, with their blood types marked on their faces.
The human feeling of love and, sometimes, the genetic information exchange taking place in front of the camera unites the protagonists of the kiss. The blood group brings out their individuality, writes Bersani in her artist statement.
When we kiss, we are biologically and chemically intertwined with one another. This short but seemingly beautiful series from the 23-year-old photographer from Milan, not only depicts that chemical interaction, but effortlessly tug on the heart as you take a peek into the relationships of the subjects in the photos. Each photo expresses a grainy atmosphere, appealing to the poetic side in all of us, with muted shades of red, pink, and gray.
