All eyes were on Maria Prada as she arrived at the Palais dlena in Paris to show off her Miu Miu Spring 2015 collection. This Miu Miu girl is a rebel and she’s audacious. With vintage accents and vibrant clashes of colours, the much-anticipated collection is elegant and daringly seductive.
The pieces were modern yet had a vintage feel with 1960s towering platforms and fur-collared jackets. The silhouette consists of coloured pencil skirts, showing the belly, ruched and ruffled midriff-baring tops with classic collars, chic coats and blazer jackets in assorted lengths. There was a variation in prints, including tweedy plaids, chine, and a floral brocade all enmeshed on iconic silk and wool fabrics. Adding shiny poppy red leather, white tweed belts and the classic blue Prada handbag, first introduced in 1985, and the fashion show definitely had a retro vibe. The colour palette was very youthful merging delicate neutrals with bouts of brights. Sharp dark V-necked shaped dresses with bowed boots scream girl power while the peep toes counter with soft femininity. The greasy half-up hair is the look of the modern office rebel still wearing heavy smudged eye makeup from the mosh pit concert the evening before.
And what cosmopolitan woman wouldn’t want this complete rockin ensemble, when its founderMaria Pradawas named best dressed over 50 and the 75th most powerful woman in the world” by Forbes in 2013. With this kind of fame and flair under her belt, we look forward to the launch of Miu Miu’s first fragrance, coming soon this year in 2015.
