Berlin Fashion Week SS16: Runway and Backstage Photos

Dazzled by the colours and contours of Ayala’'s new collection, which flowed from the girls with such fluidity and grace that each subtle movement was mesmerising. Varon’s morbid futurism pulled attention too, the beauty of which was supplemented by a passionate description of the unfathomably precise nature of their production delivered by Varon himself. Photographs of this work can be…

The New Gucci Girl is a Bohemian Nerd

Madeleine de Scudéry’s 1654 book Carte de Tendre sets the mood for Gucci’s Spring/Summer 2016 Ready-to-Wear show, the second by new-ish Creative Director, Alessandro Michele.  Michele was relatively unknown at the time of his appointment a year ago; however, he was previously head of accessories design at Gucci and has been at the design house for more than a decade. …

Floral Prints and Leather at Coach Spring 2016 Runway Show

Coach’s Spring 2016 show, staged on Manhattan’s High Line, saw Stuart Vevers’ ready-to-wear vision brought to life. From floaty bohemian dresses to patchwork leather and bold trouser suits, the 70s influence is clear, but lace detailing and ditsy prints add a folky, Americana twist. Preppy knitwear and prairie-girl collars walked alongside suede co-ords, embellished t-shirts, and dark printed maxi dresses.…

Saint Laurent Spring/Summer 2016 — Chic Music Festival Fashion

Saint Laurent Spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection is a mix of designer Hedi Slimane’s Downtown Los Angeles sensibility and Saint Laurent’s Parisian couture heritage.  The diverse collection, called “Saint Laurent Skin,” was inspired by 90s-era grunge. Courtney Love was at the show and may very well have been Slimane’s muse for this season.

Valentino Pre-Fall 2015—Celestial Romanticism with a 70s Spirit

Isabel Marant Spring 2015 Ready-to-Wear

What do the words "tribal" and "Parisian" have in common? Isabel Marant. Her view for summer is more natural and raw; "Tribal without being too literal" is how the designer described her Spring-Summer collection. Her visit to Togo, Ghana and Kenya 25 years ago left an enduring impression on Marant, and this collection definitely makes us dream of distant horizons and African skies.

Givenchy Spring/Summer 2015 — Edgy yet Romantic

Riccardo Tisci’s goal with this Givenchy Spring/Summer 2015 collection was to capture a sense of nostalgia from when he began working in the fashion industry. The collection has a sense of elegance, yet an erotic allure that only a women could have. With lace, corsets, and stripes, this collection also has a taste of the Victorian Gothic era; circa 1800s. It’s definitely dark, romantic, and slightly bohemian.

Anna Sui Spring/Summer 2015 – The Space Hippies

Anna Sui delivers a 1960s memo with her 2015 spring/summer ready-to-wear collection "All We Are Saying Is Give Peace A Chance." Enter the Lennon lovin’ hippie with her gypsy florals of spasmodic swirls and twilight twirls. Retroactively we’re back in London, the fashion capital of the world, during the British Invasion with John, Yoko and the Beatles too. Define Anna’s theme and you have the eccentric; a background designed with psychedelic artwork, bright stars and spherical planets. A whimsical atmosphere that alludes to tarot cards, psychic readings and horoscopes. The style is undeniably bohemian and cosmic.
